Sunday Round-Up: Game Week

This week’s round-up is going to be a little different from the previous ones… since this week was all about games, I wanted to really showcase all of the many, many games we couldn’t possibly fit in to a 7-day week — & of course I wanted to fill it with as much awesome DIY treats as possible!! xD

With that, let’s check out some of my favourite DIY’s for games that I’ve drooled over — hopefully, I’ll get to make some of these myself soon! (I have epic plans for my sewing machine & a tic-tac-toe game! Or maybe Checkers…or both??)

….and okay…yes there are a couple of video game Nintendo related DIYs. xD (What? You know I’m a Nintendork!)

How Settlers of Catan Rejuvenated and Ruined My Life

It’s Saturday!! Y’all know what that means…!! It’s time for another…

Sevi Saturday!!

How Settlers of Catan Rejuvenated and Ruined My Life

David and I went over to a friend’s apartment one evening for dinner, drinks, and couples game
night. What later ensued was sheer competitive madness and I am in serious need of a fix. Will
you help me?

I digress, let me start at the beginning.

We arrived at our friends’ apartment with bottle of wine in tow and eager to start our game night.
Unbeknownst to me that I would meet the most formidable match in a little game called, Settlers
of Catan. We decided to go out and eat at a local hibachi restaurant, amongst the laughter and
jokes – none of us were even remotely aware of what would transpire as soon as the Settlers of
Catan would emerge from the box.

After dinner, we headed back to their apartment and the glasses began to overflow with the
sweet nectar of one of my favorite red blends, The Last Judgment. This should’ve been a sign
of where my life was going as we all agreed to play

That night, my life was changed as I bargained for resources, built roads, and ruthlessly made
sure that nobody would overtake my reign as the queen of settlements. I was alive! I was
fearless. I WON! I freaking won. I beat out three individuals who all have read each book of
Game Of Thrones and hid the Red Wedding from me. I conquered them, then as soon as I got
home I purchased my own physical copy of Settlers of Catan. Our friends have moved back up
north and we have nobody nearly as ruthless as us to attempt playing with. Will you help me?

Until then, I’m going to find my iPad and play Catan HD. Yeah, it’s on the iPad.

I’ve got to say, when we first were introduced to Catan, our passion for it was much the same — still is, really! The version we play is the one you see to the left! 😀

We’ll see y’all tomorrow for an awesome round up!! 😀
