Now, on to the juicing experimentation… I invested in an inexpensive but decently rated juicer from Black & Decker via Amazon. It leaves behind some juice in the pulp & it’s not as fancy as some other juicers, but this was a purchase to see if we even liked juicing over blending & to start eating healthier. Also, I really wanted to see what all the hype is about. Turns out that I LOVE juicing! I think that, eventually, I’ll be saving up to get a bigger, fancier, shiner juicer, but for now I’m quite happy with this little guy. 😉

For my first juicing experience, all I had on hand was frozen fruits & veggies (because freezer = godsend for preserving) so I had to do some research to make sure it wouldn’t hurt the juicer. Turns out no one said anything one way or the other (though many people fussed over whether frozen or fresh is best health-wise, but I honestly don’t feel it makes enough of a difference to be elitist about). I decided to just dive right in, & took a little bit of everything that I had that sounded good together & got to juicing.
Here’s what I added to it:
- Half a cucumber, diced
- Strawberries, sliced
- Mango, diced
- Bananas, sliced
Personally, my favourite part was when I juiced the spinach… The green juice was awesome to see! My juicer left a tad more juice on the pulp then I would prefer, so I poured the pulp back in for a second go-round & got about double the juice I had before! Woo! Lookit that little rainbow-esque juice! xD
I set aside the pulp to make bread or cakes with (looking up recipes now) & poured my juice in to a cup, the rest in to a mason jar for later. YUM! ((Update: I’ve since made some nifty items from the pulp! Check back later this week for those recipes!!))
Since then, I’ve washed my juicer pieces, & the hubby is on his way from the store with more tasty, fresh goodies for me to juice! I’m so excited, y’all…!
