Hey guys!! Sorry for today’s delayed post — we were apartment hunting all day & I got so exhausted that once we finally got home I sort of fell asleep…! >_< I meant to post this morning; I’ll schedule these ahead of time so you never have to delay your delicious dose of Sevi ever again!! xD With that, let’s enjoy this weeks Spectacular Sevi Saturday!! 😀 😀 😀
** P.S. There are spoilers for the movie Galaxy Quest below, so if you haven’t watched it yet, have you been living under a rock for 14 years or what?!?
Welcome back to Sevi’s Spectacular and Geekalicious Saturdays for Geek Month! Still over doing it, but hey it’s allowed.
Galaxy Quest, a comedy of galactic proportions.
Do I even need to go further? It was 1999 and I was one of the individuals who assisted with it earning over $7 million on its opening weekend. I was 13 and the one thing I remember from the entire movie was Sigourney Weaver’s Boobs. HOLY CHESTICLES. She has the perfect set of boobs and I remember my guy friend who went with me making the comment that they were perfection.
I was flat chested, dressed like a boy, and jealous as I don’t know what. Did you catch the fact that I was 13?!?
That was then and over the years I’ve learned to appreciate the fact that there was so much more in this movie to rejoice and laugh about than being the envious 13 year old over the jugs.
Galaxy Quest was comedic genius for geeks all over the world. I’m going to give you 3 reason on why it literally swept me away.
1. It had a great motto.
You can’t beat that! Anybody would be hyped up going into an alien fight with Tim “The Tool Man,” Professor Snape, and Sigourney Weaver’s boobs leading the way (literally, those boobs were leading the way).
2. Alan Rickman can do anything. Yup, anything.
Alan Rickman basically was practicing his Professor Snape skills throughout the entire movie of Galaxy Quest. We just weren’t aware of it – case in point, this look:
I cannot even count how many times I relived that look in the Harry Potter movies. Once again, ANYTHING.
3. Qulleck’s death was heartbreaking for geeks everywhere. You felt it and it was shocking.
And to top this entire scene off, Alan Rickman basically cues the waterworks with “By Grabthar’s Hammer, by the sons of Warvan, you shall be avenged.” To have the comedic genius of this movie come to a halt with such a touching moment of fandom and appreciation was surreal. Still catch a case of the tears watching it.
Galaxy Quest is one of the perfect and underrated Sci Fi movies of all time. If you haven’t been privileged enough to watch this movie – stop reading and go buy it on Amazon.
Until next week – The show has been cancelled… but the adventure is just beginning.
Well folks, that wraps up our 2nd week of Geek Month — Sci-Fi! Tomorrow starts Retro Week!! We’ve got pretty exciting things planned, so keep watch!! 😀
