Butter Beer Friday!!

Do you sense it? I can feel it…! By the pricking of my thumbs, SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES!!! It’s…it’s HORRIBLE! It’s… the first week of school!!!! Ahhh!!
Seriously, though, how was everyone’s first week back? (Either yourself or the kiddos?) Well, hopefully today’s post can help lessen the sting (or pricking, rather!) of this first week!

What better way to finish up the first week of school then with a fantastic cup of everbody’s favourite drink from the fantastic world of Harry Potter? Butterbeer!! (Speaking of Hogwarts, there’s a school I wouldn’t mind going back to!)

Best of all, this is all completed in FOUR EASY STEPS!!

Elise’s Adult Butterbeer
Now most recipes I’ve seen involve butterscotch, but personally — & don’t freak out y’all — I’m not such a fan. 🙁 Soooo I’ll admit I sorta’ cheated… 😉 We have this Hot Buttered Rum mix that I’ve been itching to use, but if you don’t have a mix like I did, it only consists of brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, allspice, cloves, & lemon oil. I’ll probably play around with making my own mix at some point when I have the time.

Ingredients for adult butterbeer buttered rum recipe


  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp. Hot Buttered Rum Mix (store bought or make yer own)
  • A jigger of rum (see pic for the jigger, it’s a measuring device for alcohol)
  • 2 tsp. of softened butter (for a lighter drink, nix the butter)
  • 6 oz. boiling water

**You can also nix the rum for a virgin version of this drink, but who wants that??? Psh!
***Also, I tripled the ingredient list from the single serving listed above, except the rum for the one n00b who didn’t want RUM.

Step One:
Soften thy BUTTA’! After it’s softened, pour in 2 tbsp. of your Butter Rum mix in with it & mix thoroughly until it’s smooth.

Mix it! (Whip noise) Mix it good!!

Step Two:
Pour the mixture in your mug of choice!! Bring your water to a boil & pour in 6 oz. of the boiling water in with the mixture.

Put the mix in to your mug!

Step Three:
Add a jigger (like, a shot…or more, if you’re fond of the rum, like I am!) of rum to the mug o’ stuff. Stir well, but gently, so you don’t lose any of the DELISH.

One without rum...guh!

Step Four:
Add the boiling water…then, cool to preference, & DRINK IT!!!
